MHCP is excited to announce its new Internship Training Program, approved by its Board of Directors on May 26, 2021.

Anna Sumerlin, LPC, ACS has been appointed as the new Program’s Director.

The internship program has been created to provide an enriched clinical training experience for students preparing for a career in mental health. Our center is collaborating with colleges and universities under Ms. Sumerlin’s supervision for master’s degree and bachelor’s level students seeking placement in an outpatient counseling setting. The program offers support for professional growth through exposure and consultation to evidence-based practices with onsite experienced clinical supervisors providing individual supervision.

A graduate of Ithaca College, Ms. Sumerlin received her Master’s in Community Counseling at Montclair State University. Having begun herself as an intern at MHCP, she officially joined the agency in 2015, as a group facilitator and licensed counselor in several of our programs.

It is our hope that this program will broaden MHCP’s name in the community while giving back to a service industry that is close to our hearts and be a gateway for students to begin their careers in the mental health/social service field.
