PREVENTION OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY
One wrong choice should not determine your future. MHCP’s long-standing relationship with the Passaic City Juvenile Police Department through the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency Program supports troubled teens in the City of Passaic.
The purpose of the program is to help reduce truancy, gang involvement and repeat offenses for first-time teen offenders. Individual counseling allows teens to privately discuss their concerns, worries and anxiety surrounding their trouble with the law. Collaborating with the Passaic Police Department’s Station House Adjustment Program allows our staff a unique perspective in assisting the police on several topics such as Drugs and Alcohol, Gangs, Reality Check and Teamwork. Our teens benefit greatly from this collaboration, understanding the future consequences of their behavior from law enforcement perspective, while being able to explore the social, emotional and self-esteem needs surrounding these consequences with their PJD counselor.
It is the program’s hope that having our teens be a part of this intensive collaboration will encourage them to make better choices in the future.
